Article Writing Styles Explained Part I

An article is simply a body of text that offers information of some type. It can be technical, using scientific language, have an informal, personable style, or be serious. The style and manner of writing usually depends upon the subject matter, the article type, and the intended audience.

Basically, any given type of article can be written in a variety of different ways. The determination of the style in which the article is written is very much dependent upon the intended audience. A medical article or scientific article that is geared toward professionals or experts in the field, the language used will be more technical and scientific. That same article, intended to speak to the general population will need to be written in laymen's terms so that it can be understood. When an article is written about a subject that is serious, the tone should match, but it should stay on the level of its intended audience.

Sometimes editors wish to put a human fact to apiece, to bring emotional impact and raise the issue beyond a superficial topic. In such cases, they may require two anecdotal pieces to be included in the text. This material will often come from interviews with people who have had first hand experiences on the subject. As a writer, you will need to locate someone who is willing to give you an interview. This can be achieved by talking to personal acquaintances, contacting support organizations to direct you to individuals who can help, and even asking friends if they know someone. Often the support organizations in particular will be helpful because your article can help raise awareness about the topic.
