SEO Copy Writing - Two Keys to Writing a Winning Web Site

Writing web content is quite different from, say, writing for print publications. You must keep the entire web site and its structure in mind while writing. SEO copy writing can be tricky as well as you weave your information and content around specific keywords. As you design your page, though, begin thinking about navigation as well as web design. Everything on a web page works together. Design, format, and text are all interwoven to create a look and feel that is efficient and seamless. While the web master or designer may see these items as individual parts to the project, the visitor to the website only sees one instant impression.

There are really two keys that mean the difference between a winning, captivating web site and a web site that is a complete turnoff to readers:

  • SEO copy writing of content that is informative and well written

  • Navigation that is user friendly
This may seem like a lot but when you are designing a website to attract customers you want it to be as efficient and enticing as possible.

Your customers are web surfers, the Googlers of the world if you will. You want your web content to be SEO copy writing that speaks to your customers and offers them something of value. This comes in the form of information that is packaged in a well designed, appealing website.

Think of a manual or reference book. The majority of businesses have them in some form and their structure can be compared to web site writing and designing. There are some basic strategies that apply to both items.

The manual or reference book can be hundreds of pages and they are constantly updated. It is often more efficient to cross reference information from one page or section to another. This is much like hyperlinks. When you make changes to one area, other sections are often impacted. It is not uncommon to see information on one page, then a directive to go to yet another page for more information.

A web site is much the same way. As your pages grow and expand, you will find that you have many pages that can be cross-referenced and you will begin to link them to others. Your first and foremost objective should be to make the information as easy for your readers to locate as possible.

When you are designing a web site, you want to keep your structure simple, but as you add pages, use good in text links in the old pages that lead to the new pages. This is also good for your search engine rankings, not to mention make it easier on your readers.

Your website is a combination of links, images and, of course, text. As a writer, you see each part individually and your site, to you, is analyzed piece by piece. However, your readers see something different. They see your content, but the design, text, links, and graphics are all one entity to them.

Everything that they experience on your web site happens at once. The refreshing content, appealing design and well planned linking all work together to create a web page that will stick with your readers as the navigate it and come back again and again.

You want to keep navigation and the structure of your site in your mind when you are writing your pages. If you give your customers a web site that is user friendly, easy to browse and has tons of great information, your customers will be coming back again and again.

A Guide to SEO Copy Writing

Search Engine Optimization copywriting, or SEO copywriting, is all about using specific search terms in your writing, while still making sure your text reads well and doesn't look "keyword spammy". There are many SEO copywriting services available but it is just as simple to learn the process yourself and write your own website text, not to mention cheaper. You might be learning about SEO from an SEO copywriting book or website or you might never have used it before. SEO is very important when it comes to making sure your web pages rank highly in the big search engines, because this means that people can find your website.

It is a good idea to use competitive search terms. Keywords such as hotels, i-pod, vacations, insurance and health are researched by millions of people every day so there are tens of thousands of websites filled with these keywords already with the website owners all fighting for rankings. Remember also that not all websites are suitable for SEO copywriting. Some do not have enough text on the pages and others would compromise their already excellent text by stuffing keywords here and there. If you are using search terms with a low to middle end of competitiveness, SEO copywriting could really boost your website.
