This means that you can often set your own hours. There is not punching of a time clock and no demands that you work at certain times of the day. As long as you get the job done, you can decide when you work.

One advantage of working in this manner is that you can do other things while you are brainstorming on ideas for your copy. You can work your schedule around your schedule, your children's school schedule or your own personal habits. In addition, if something suddenly comes up, you can take the time to attend to it without taking time off of work. If you go on a trip, you can bring your laptop with you and do your job wherever you are. This is a sizable advantage over traditional jobs that have set hours and you have little or no control over how much, how often or when you work.

Working as a copywriter in an agency environment can offer great benefits as well. They are different from the freedom of freelance work, but for many people they are equally enticing. You may have the opportunity to work with other creative people, bouncing ideas off of each other and feeding off of each other's energy and enthusiasm. You may also get to work with a team of people in a variety of disciplines.

Ad agencies differ in size. An ad agency could be a two-person office or a huge corporate environment. Small offices offer that close knit family feeling. Larger agencies, on the other hand, can also offer certain camaraderie as teamwork is encouraged and people work side by side to achieve the same goal.

Copywriting is a job that is ever changing and ever evolving. It never grows stale as new projects emerge which encourage new ideas, new creative adventures and new products and services for which you are called upon to write great copy. Whether you choose the freedom and flexibility of the freelance world, or become a team player for a corporate environment, copywriting is an exciting, exhilarating profession that offers many great benefits.

First of all, never waffle. Every word needs to earn its place in the copy. Keep sentences short and to the point. Do not use a long word such as "information" when a short word like "facts" will do the job. Try to speak the reader's language. Talk like a friend rather than a salesman and avoid using long, complicated words just to show off.

It is fine to use humor, depending on the topic, but avoid anything too difficult and cryptic. If something has to be thought about before being understood, get rid of it and use a simple pun or joke instead. Perhaps one of the most important copywriting tips is to read and reread your copy afterwards to check every part makes sense and reads well.
